DJI drones have been relatively quiet this year, but new leaks indicate that a Mavic 3 Pro might be on the horizon, featuring an exciting addition three cameras. This groundbreaking development has the potential to revolutionize aerial photography and filmmaking. It offers unprecedented flexibility and creative options for drone enthusiasts.
A Glimpse of the Mavic 3 Pro
Reliable DJI leaker @DealsDrone posted an image on Twitter, seemingly revealing the retail box for the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro. It is likely that this drone will be available in a bundle with the high-end DJI RC Pro controller. This image aligns with earlier ones shared by the same leaker, displaying a gimbal-stabilized camera module with three separate lenses. If true, this would be DJI’s first consumer drone offering three native focal lengths, as the current DJI Mavic 3 has two lenses (with equivalent focal lengths of 24mm and 162mm).
The inclusion of three cameras would offer aerial photographers and filmmakers greater versatility. This is similar to what is found in the best mirrorless cameras or flagship smartphones. The exact focal lengths of the three cameras remain unclear, but the @DealsDrone leak suggests the third camera might “support 3x zoom.” If so, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro would have a main 24mm wide-angle camera with a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor. It would also feature a 162mm telephoto camera and a third camera with a 70mm focal length.
Mid-Telephoto possibilities and launch speculations
These details are far from confirmed. Another possibility was suggested by DJI leaker @OsitaLV in August 2022. They proposed a third camera with a 50mm lens and a 1-inch sensor. Regardless, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is expected to have an additional mid-telephoto option. This allows users to capture details without digital zoom or using the 162mm telephoto lens.
While there is no confirmed release date for the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, leaked retail packaging images have started to surface. Typically, such leaks occur within weeks of an official launch. Another reliable DJI leaker, @JasperEllens, has also hinted that the drone “will be in stores very soon.”
